Emily Leach, MA, AMFT
I am an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist based in Orange County, California.
Supervised by Emily Curley, LMFT
Finding a therapist who understands the intersections of disability, sexuality, relationships, identity, and trauma can be challenging. Our practice is committed to creating an affirming, collaborative space where clients can bring their whole selves into therapy without feeling that important parts of their experiences need to be explained, minimized, or avoided.
We have a particular passion for working with people with disabilities, individuals exploring sexuality and intimacy, couples and partners navigating relationship concerns, and those healing from trauma. We recognize that experiences with disability, chronic health changes, body image, sexuality, and trauma can influence how people see themselves, connect with others, and experience intimacy.
Sexuality and disability are often treated as separate conversations, and people with disabilities may be excluded from discussions about dating, sex, pleasure, intimacy, and relationships altogether. At our practice, these topics are welcomed. We provide a sex-positive and disability-affirming environment where clients can explore sexual concerns, desire, intimacy, body image, relationship dynamics, identity, shame, and changing relationships with their bodies.
Our work is trauma-informed, collaborative, and centered on each client’s individual experiences and goals. We recognize that trauma does not occur in isolation and may be shaped by relationships, family systems, medical experiences, discrimination, ableism, and other social and cultural influences. Rather than assuming there is one “right” way to heal, we work alongside clients to understand their experiences, recognize their strengths, and create meaningful change on their own terms.
Whether you are navigating trauma, disability, intimacy concerns, relationship challenges, identity, life transitions, or simply wanting to feel more connected to yourself and others, you deserve a therapeutic space where your experiences are taken seriously. Our goal is to provide compassionate, inclusive care where difficult conversations are welcomed and clients feel empowered to build relationships and lives that feel authentic and meaningful to them.

my therapy approach
THERAPY IS A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL.
MY STYLE IS CLIENT-FOCUSED AND CENTERS AUTONOMY.
HERE ARE SOME ADDITIONAL TOOLS MY CLIENTS HAVE FOUND HELPFUL IN SESSION:
• NARRATIVE & LANGUAGE THERAPY
• MINDFULNESS
• DIALECTICAL BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (DBT) SKILLS
• BRAINSPOTTING
• CRAFT EXPRESSION
• ACCEPTANCE & COMMITMENT THERAPY (ACT)
My Values
While therapists have historically been trained to keep their personal beliefs to themselves, we know now that therapy is indisputably political, especially when so many oppressed identities are being blatantly targeted by our own government.
Only you can determine whether or not you feel safe in my presence and I aim to make that as easy to identify by making a few things known about me right off the bat.
In my therapy space, you are safe to ask (and receive a straight answer) about:
Who I vote for.
Where are I stand on different political issues.
What kind of work or training I have done in regards to social justice, anti-racism, etc.
Values that I align my therapy work with:
Weight-inclusive & anti-diet culture
Neurodivergent-affirming
Gender- and identity-affirming
Sex positive
Autonomy & harm-reduction
let’s work together!
